How do I add new Textures in Photoshop CS4?
admin | Jul 05, 2010 | Comments 1
I was told you just go C. Drive > Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop CS4 > Presets > Textures and drop the texture in there or open it from there, but my presets folder does not contain a "Textures" folder and I can’t add any or load any. I really need to find a way to get a snake skin texture or something like that. I’m running Windows XP Pro. 32-bit if that makes a difference. Help please!
This will be a long tutorial for ya, but here ya go.
Load your image = Snake skin
Select area of snake skin using the marquee tool-
Copy selection
Press CTRL + N This will open a new file with exact measurements of your copied snake skin
Now select Filter> other> offset (This will allow you to make sure your snake skin can be mapped correctly)
You will note that when you offset just slightly that there is a line. What you want to do is use your blur tool (r) and blend out those lines, you can also you the smudge tool as well
Now your just about done. your texture should be able to be mapped now and not look goofy. Select EDIT > Define Pattern. Save it a name you want. Now apply to whatever you want using the blending options (this is achieved by right clicking in your layer panel on the specific layer and selecting the blending option)
Thats the tutorial. Contact me if you need additional help I run a Media firm out of Oregon / California / Washington / Texas and Surrounding states. Thank you
